I am SICK AND TIRED of Coaches Lacking THIS

Setting Standards, Dissected from the BEST Players

Hey Hockey Hacks Community

I don’t see enough coaches embracing the Standards of the best hockey players. Sure they follow guidelines that ancient power skating books have published 40 years ago. And sure, they add creativity and fun with different drills every practice. But things have changed dramatically in this world in 40 years, including what we know about movement and hockey training. And I have yet to see a coach INTENTIONALLY TRAIN themselves to be as good as the best players.

I am looking to be the FIRST coach to train the actual abilities of guys like Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Nathan Mackinnon, and the rest of the great players TODAY.

Check out this article for some basic hockey standards:

The World’s First Standardized Hockey Training System

I have played hockey since I was 8 years old. I went to many camps, met many friends, had many coaches I’m still close with to this day, and progressed as I did through the years. Occasionally, I did private lessons, both with on-ice training and gym training. This is also what every hockey player experiences and goes through if they want to get better, as the cliché goes.

But one thing was missing — How exactly do I play like Alex Ovechkin? How exactly do I play like Sidney Crosby? How exactly do I skate as fast as Connor McDavid? How exactly do I shoot as hard as Elias Pettersson? How do I instill fear into others like Nathan Mackinnon? None of my coaches gave me the results that lead me to be like these Superstar, Outlier Players.

I started searching everything on YouTube that gave me guides to become exactly like these players. My friends at Train 2.0 gave me the most compelling answers with a biomechanical analysis I had not seen from every other hockey training channel I could find. “How to Shoot like Patrik Laine” was the first video I watched from Jason, and it blew my mind. It was literally the exact opposite of everything I learned up to that point in late fall 2018. The “red pill” stayed in my mind for years until I joined the program and worked with Jason intensively.

I loved working on the programs inside there so much that I would always spend 2–3 hours on the ice (sometimes 4–6 hours), with my ipad to record video I would analyze on my movements. But that came at a cost. At the start of 2021, I would exit a practice with a limp in my step and static shooting up and down my right hip flexor and groin. This was not the fault of the program, but the fault of me for not taking proper care of my body. How can you play professionally if you can’t walk? You can’t. And that was the reality I had to face.

Enter Athletic Truth Group. To say that this system and people have fixed my body is an understatement. They also got me to freak athlete status, got me out of pain, got me faster in hockey, and got me the best job I’ve ever had with training people. They’ve done so much for me, and I can’t thank them and Train 2.0 enough.

So why mention ATG and Train 2.0 when they aren’t my property and all I have are coaching certifications from both of them?

Well both play a pivotal role into creating this hockey system.

Train 2.0 gave me the hockey mechanics/movement education I was missing.

ATG gave me the body maintenance and athletic abilities I never imagined having with measurable standards.

We combine the best of both, plus many of my insights with Hackel Hockey Training, to create a measurable training system. I have never seen this done for Hockey before.

I will show you some of the standards I’ve come up with:

Gym Standards

ATG Back Squat

Basic — 100% BW x5…..Elite — 150% BW x5…..Freak — 200% BW x5

Chin Ups

Basic — 12 reps…..Elite — 50% BW added x5…..Freak — 100% BW added x5

Seated Goodmorning

Basic — 50% BW x10…..Elite — 75% BW x10…..Freak — 100% BW x10

Shoulder External Rotator

15% BW x10 reps

OR 12.5% of 1RM Flat Bench

On-Ice Standards

Hard Shot

Basic — 50–70mph…..Elite — 60–80mph…..Freak — 70–90mph

Fastest Lap

Basic — 17–19sec…..Elite — 15–17sec…..Freak — 13–15sec

Corkscrew — Quickhandle

Basic — 100bpm Cadence…..Elite — 150bpm Cadence…..Freak — 200bpm Cadence

Anchor

master the anchor stop

anchor with all 4 stickhandling vectors

In-tight to obstacles/goalie without losing puck control

Basic — all form points at 100bpm cadence

Elite — all form points at 125bpm cadence

Freak — all form points at 150bpm+ cadence

That’s only 4 standards for the Gym, and 4 standards for the On-Ice work, but I have plenty more. The point of a standards system is not to be right about the standards. The point is to give you as a player a route to know what to work on. It’s not enough to just go to a camp, get a few workouts or movements in that “you see other great players doing”. You likely need to do something different for your body to reach the same destination as these other great players. That’s the reason standards are so powerful, because we now make your progress personal to YOU. Where are YOU at in relation to the standards? Where is YOUR current progression? And what do we need to do to get YOU to the STANDARDS?

I feel terrible for players who are in need of personalization and customization. Unfortunately you will never be served that from teams and from big camps, because it is very likely that everyone is doing the same drills and exercises. No personalization/customization is possible when everyone does the same things; definitionally it is the opposite.

I made the biggest transformations in my game when I worked on my custom programming. I set a standard to work to, and worked backwards to see how I could get to it in the quickest possible time. That’s what I did to change my hockey mechanics. That’s what I did to fix my hips. That’s what I did to become a freak athlete. That’s what I did to become the coach I am today.

And that is how I created the Hockey Hacks System, the name of the first standardized hockey program. Your full year is planned out right in front of you, and we get to customize it further. I have only 10 spots available, so if you want to make this change in your game, go to my website to check out the system and to set up a call with me.
